Ag barometer declines sharply as commodity prices weaken; majority of farmers expect MFP payments in 2020

The Purdue University/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer weakened somewhat in August to a reading of 124, down 29 things from July. The barometer is founded on a mid-month survey of 400 agricultural producers across the U.S. and was carried out Aug. 12-20, with almost all of reactions built-up after USDA’s launch of the Aug. 12 Crop Production report.
